  1. Name, title and how long you’ve been at Specialty Manufacturing Co.

Justin Howlett, almost five years, Lead Injection Molding Set-Up Tech.

  1. What is your role at the company, and what does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day includes ensuring all presses are running good parts and ensuring all set-up techs are aware of any mold changes happening. I also do sampling of new molds as needed.

  1. What aspects of our culture do you find most rewarding or unique?

I really like the flexibility to modify my schedule as needed around my kids.

  1. What is a project you’ve worked on that you are proud of?

I’m currently working on getting the new molds for the Culligan project approved and running.

  1. Is there a colleague or mentor who has had a significant impact on your career?

Joe Morrick and Glenn Coleman have helped me improve my processing and machine maintenance skills. They have also started teaching me bench changes.

  1. What advice would you give to someone starting a career in manufacturing?

Be patient and open minded because you will never stop learning.

  1. If you could switch roles with someone at Specialty for a day, what role would you want to try?

I’d like to try to do more bench changes, working with the tool room.

  1. What’s something about you that most people at the company might not know?

My house is a zoo! We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a guinea pig.

  1. Outside of work, what are your hobbies or interests?

I enjoy going on hikes with my family and playing with my kids.
